Therefore, the cornerstone to an effective process improvement for bringing government closer to the people was to implement an imaging system, eliminate the paper, and make the images and data available through an easy to use internet based single point of access solution. The Web-based solution implemented by RCG Information Technology (RCG IT) contains over 35 million images, a number growing by 75,000 images per day. The real time availability of the data/images is critical to government agencies, businesses, banks, constituents and a host of other entities as an integral component to their businesses. RCG IT’s solution enables the generation of a new revenue stream for the Suffolk County Clerk with 24-7-365 online access to public information through an external/internal subscription service. The service allows subscribers to search County records, extract information through data mining, and/or receive real-time updates regarding deed, mortgage, and other land record information. Different from the complimentary Web access, this service offers increased search capabilities and provides alerts of updated information in the system to subscribers via e-mail or hand-held device in addition to allowing businesses the ability to create an abstract of land information similar to a TRW credit report. This new source of revenue is expected to generate a revenue stream of several million dollars! In 2006, $650,000 was collected in printing revenue alone.
